Language of dance
By Christine van Emst for This is Herfordshire (what an exciting name!)

The programme to Tango Pasion at Fairfield on Monday night, gave an insight into the history of this extraordinary dance.

It started in the brothels of Buenos Aries and what we witnessed at Fairfield was a far cry from the jerky, modern tango of our ballroom dancing.

Sensuous in the extreme and talking serious body language, the superb cast entwined legs, locked ankles and roamed hands over each others’ bodies in a breathtaking, intricate set of elegant routines that relied on split second timing.

Pasion play turns up heat as crowd gets truly tangoed
By BARRY GORDON for The Evening News

EVER since it originated in Buenos Aires’ seaside bordellos in the early 1900s, the tango has sent many people’s mercury rising.

In fact, the tango was once considered so risque and indecent that it was banned by the Pope and barred from being performed in public in several European countries.

Not quite as controversial anymore, but mercifully still sexy, last night’s show at the Playhouse was more a biography of the dance than a revue - a series of striking vignettes focusing on the tango’s sensual style and development over the last hundred years.
