The latest of Dominique Delouche's films is now available on DVD. "Violette and M. B" is about the legacy of Violette Verdy, the muse of Georges Balanchine. She is giving master classes to various dancers, like lucia Lacara, Nicolas Le Riche or Elisabeth platel. There is a second film, "Comme les oiseaux" about the French dancer Monique Loudières.

...And Ms. Verdy later served with great distinction as director of the Paris Opera Ballet.

Thanks for calling this film to our attention, Cécile2, and welcome to criticaldance.

You may purchase it directly from the producer :

http://www.doriane-films.com/ (multingual site French / English)

DVDs can be purchased online, payment via all common credit cards (Visa, Mastercard...)

Normally, the DVDs are encoded for all zones and may be played also on US devices. In case of a doubt, you mail mail to Dorian Film to make sure that you'll have no trouble to play the videos.

I guess theses videos will be available on Amazon soon too.

Together with the release of the video, there's an interview (in French only) of Dominique Delouche HERE

And a very interesting interview of Mr Delouche on www.dansomanie.net

Here's the direct link to the relevant Dance Books page for the two Violette Verdy films available on one video:

I highly recommend Violette and Mr. B, not that it needs my recommendation. I saw it at a special showing in San Francisco, with Ms. Verdy present. I had seen her perform only once, and was impressed enough by that performance, but the performance clips in this video are a revelation. Until you see her perform the first woman's solo in Emeralds, you haven't really seen it, in my opinion.

I also think it's one of his best films.
