Epiphany came to Emio Greco in the unlikeliest of settings. As a penurious young dancer in the south of France, he'd been forced to take on an assortment of "ignoble" jobs, including engagements in shopping centres and cabaret clubs, as well as bouts of busking and street performance. Perhaps the most grossly commercial of all was a booking to perform at the corporate launch of a new model of Fiat car: "It came right at that moment when I had become very worried and frustrated about my future," he recalls with a wince. "I couldn't discover the way that I was dreaming of dancing. I just didn't feel good about the way I was living my life. So there was something inside that was just waiting to erupt."
