Hi Stuart

Mezzo is a French based opera, dance, music and jazz station that's broadcast on satellite & cable and reaches over 6 million homes in 24 countries...sadly the UK is not one of them! A shame because they have some great programmes to offer.

Here's a link to ballet & dance listings on UK TV & Radio for the week commencing 14th October.......

Many thanks Pete for your continuing efforts to publicise dance on TV.

My pick of the week is "Giselle" - Mats Ek's modern reworking of this classic tale of love & tragedy. Ek isn't everyone's cup of tea and the ballet purists will throw up their hands in dismay, but many, including me find him one of the most interesting choreographers around today. The brilliant sculptural image above is an example.

Well it's water under the bridge now and UK audiences will not see the Royal in "Le Parc". But there's a chance on Artsworld to see the performance by POB, on whom it was created.

Scroll to the later parts of this topic for reviews and a discussion about POB's performances of "Le Parc" in California.

OK it's confession time - when I recommend a particular dance film from Pete's weekly compilation, it is very much a personal choice rather than a carefully considered even handed choice. Thus, another work from Christopher Bruce has caught my eye.

However, this is a special week for Bruce, which is probably why "Ghost Dances" is shown this week on Artsworld. Thursday, 14th November, is Christopher Bruce's retirement event from Rambert Dance Company, the Company that he has been associated with since the start of his career and which over the past 8 years he has taken to a secure financial and artistic position.

"Ghost Dances" is one of his most moving pieces and has an additional resonance for those of us who work in the area of human rights. Artsworld are showing the Houston Ballet version, which is an indication of the work that Bruce has made and set outside of Rambert.

In the current dance scene, he is one of my heroes and we will be celebrating his enormous contribution to world dance in our Rambert Feedback Forum this week.

Thanks a bunch as always for devotion to duty Pete. It looks like a bumper week with the Gala from Lyons on Sunday the highlight, with much to savour. Compagnie Montalvo-Hervieu are guaranteed to brighten virtually everyone's life, except for the chronically negative, with their infectious fun, skillful dance and exceptionally successful use of multi-media technology.

Elsewhere, David Bintley's "Carmina Burana" and "Hobson's Choice" are two of this leading choreographer's most successful ballets.
