Katharine Doré: Just another stage in life Her company's all-male 'Swan Lake' stunned audiences and her latest production is a star-studded 'Arsenic and Old Lace'. But, the producer Katharine Doré tells Sam Marlowe, her biggest challenge came when she found her son was autistic. From The Independent
Since splitting with the choreographer and business partner Matthew Bourne two years ago, Katharine Doré has had a bit of a reputation. Together they stole headlines with their all-male production of Swan Lake, but Bourne later painted Doré as controlling, claiming that she ran their company, Adventures in Motion Pictures, "like an empire", and that he felt that he was "working for the upkeep of the producer's office". Bourne went on to form another company, New Adventures, while she set up Katharine Doré Management (KDM). So I'm half-expecting to meet an abrasive, imperious queen bee figure.
Happily, it is no such person who greets me as I step from the lift into her incredibly chic waterfront apartment.
