MORE than 150 applied, a dozen were selected and the result is Blue, three packed nights of some of the best new work by emerging performers and creators from around the north west.

Drama, dance, masked theatre, puppetry, comedy, poetry, music theatre and more, it's all here in a three-night showcase at the Royal Exchange Studio.

Blue producer Lela Cribbin says: "Since the opening of the Studio theatre three years ago, we have been bringing the best in national touring theatre companies. In fact, we have this month presented our 100th visiting company.
