Virtual Incarnations
Catherine Hale reports for londondance.com on some of the themes and ideas which emerged.

This years Live Chat Room, part of Dance Umbrella 2002, took place @ the ICA - and online - on 14 Sept. It focussed on collaborative/ interauthorship processes evolving from choreographers making dance performance alongside digital artists.

Chance procedures for once worked against Merce Cunningham – at least in their role in determining audience numbers for this event. The reasons for the low-ish turnout seemed entirely random given his star attraction status and the event’s popularity in past years. Luckily, the live webcast meant some technophiles kept us company in spirit if not in body.
