Image
more than a little sad: Darcey Bussell's biological father, who separated from her mother in London and returned to his native Australia when Darcey was small, has died in Sydney, without ever meeting her as an adult - something he longed to do. john crittle was 56, and suffered from emphysema (his daughter darcey turned 31 two weeks ago).
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/dynamic/news/story.html?in_review_id=280137&in _review_text_id=225705
when darcey was here for the Australian Ballet's Bayadere about 3 years ago, the Sydney papers exposed this story about her father hoping she would get in touch, going to her performances, and longing to meet her...
sad.

[This message has been edited by grace (edited May 09, 2000).]

A sad story but I wonder if there is more than meets the eye. Why was she so guarded? Why didn't she ever agree to meet him?

I'm not suggesting anything. I was merely asking.
I also have to say that I've been forgetting that Bussell (the daughter that is) is in her thirties. She looks so young to me.
