Online tech specs are great but you never really know the whole story until you're in the venue, do you? For instance, that Dance Place sound system really needed to be tweaked in a big way. :}

What a timely topic for me.<P>I just spent the last hour looking for the backstage specs of a new auditorium in our town. We are going to be there for the recital and I hoped that they would have something on the web. I found a seating chart on a page for the professional ballet company in our town, but nothing else.<P>However our local Convention center had maps of the ENTIRE building! ... sigh

It's true...things can look lovely and organized on paper, and then be a mess when you get to the venue. But, on the otherhand, I would rather see some photos or some drawings ahead of time, so I have some idea what I am walking into - if for no other reason than that I can control my facial expression when I first walk to centerstage and see for myself that airduct they really did install 15 feet off the deck.<P>Putting light plots online: Jeff, do you find that people are accessing them from your web site? I looked at them, and it's a very nice presentation. <P>Rep light plots for venues: I enjoy seeing them, because I can tell right off the bat whether they have it set up for dance, and a little bit about what they are probably used to presenting in that space.<BR>

I don't know, Babs; I don't get to see the logs (haveta pay extra for that) and I've never thought to put a freeware counter on that part of the site.

Most of the things I have available are things I put online knowing full well that few (if any) potential employers will be interested in them; the idea is that if even one PE wants to see sample plots, or my resume in PDFformat (suitable for printing), or. . .whatever. . .it's there.

Hi, I have a big doubt about a technical requirement... I have to fill the main stage of a theatre with low-level flight smoke for a dance that takes up to four minutes. The proscenium open is about 18 meter width and 18 meter lenght. After that four minutes the smoke has to dissapear.

I don't know exactly neither wich liquified gas I have to ask for nor how much of it I need for this effect? The Venue will be the Grand Theatre of Shanghai. Best regards from Argentina,

I would use dry ice fog, with some BIG electric fans in the wings, aimed offstage, to suck it out at the appropriate time.

Hi everyone, I used to work with AutoCad to draw my lighting plots and now I am doing my best to change to VectorWorks. I have been facing with several difficulties and now I realize that I don't have the lighting fixtures drawings objects to add to my plot. Someone knows where can I find the fixtures drawings for VectorWorks? Thanks,

Manuel, you can download a DXF drawing of standard symbols from my website (http://www.jeffsalzberg.com/articles.htm). Vectorworks allows you to import DXF files and it should be fairly simple to save the symbols.

Otherwise, Steve Shelley has an excellent collection of symbols that are, I believe, already in Vectorworks format...but he charges for it.
