The Boston Globe Sunday magazine has a long and interesting article by Charles P. Pierce on the renovation of the Boston Opera House. This is funded by Clear Channel (who can't be all bad). The Opera House is the future site for Boston Ballet's Nutcracker. The article discusses Boston theater history as well as the renovation. Here's the link: Golden Opportunity

When The Lion King opens in Boston this summer, the restored Opera House will be a bigger star than Simba — and will signal a new era for one of this city's most neglected neighborhoods.
(moderators - if there is a better place for this, please move it....)

This is great! I'm referring to the feature -- almost as important as the actual renovation is getting the word out and getting people to realize how important and significant this renovation is.

Two articles of interest by Robert Nesti in the Boston Herald today. One on the Opera House renovation: Restored Boston Opera House is nearly ready for prime time

and another listing new theater venues opening in the area (some suitable for dance, some not): Curtain up! Hub stages rev up for theater boom

So does this mean Boston Ballet will not ever have to return to that ball and chain the Wang Center?
