PLASA is a UK technical expo:
Technical talk By Howard Bird for The Stage
At last, a stand at PLASA without smoke, nodding buckets or set-to-kill mixers. I was not intending to write about PLASA. Things with plugs and ropes or smoke coming out of them I leave to Robin. However, this year one stand caught my eye as at first blush it seemed incongruous by its presence. There, in an outer arm of the show, was RNID - Royal National Institute for Deaf People - dispensing safety advice posters and earplugs. Seeing a charity that has major concerns about noise levels mixing with the boys who generate them, it looked as if they had braved the lion’s den. Closer inspection showed otherwise.
