A preview article about Manuel Santiago Maya, who has one of the purest of
flamenco pedigrees and will perform Saturday night at the Jackie Gleason
Theater.
Maya, who dances under the name Manolete, was reared in Sacromonte, Spain,
one of the centers of flamenco history, in a gypsy family of flamenco dancers and
musicians celebrated for their traditional artistry.
The promoter, Ilisa Rosal has taken a risk in booking the 2,700 seat theatre. Let’s hope it all
works out.

http://www.herald.com/content/today/entertainment/arts/digdocs/037547.htm
[This message has been edited by Stuart Sweeney (edited July 28, 2000).]
