Ballet Folklorico to perform uno, dos, tres times
by Carole Beers for King County Journal
You don't so much watch, as feel a performance by Ballet Folklorico Mexico.
The troupe puts viewers right in the midst of the action from several ages and cultural traditions of Mexico.
Folklorico's moves, tunes and rhythms -- from a heated tap-dance through fiery Aztec rituals to lyrical waltzes played by live musicians -- seem to reverberate right through your body.
And the troupe's bright costume colors, styles and textures -- velvets, silks, leather and tall feathers -- create extraordinary afterimages against ordinary theater backdrops.
It must be noted that this troupe differs from Mexico's official folkdance troupe, Ballet Folklorico de Mexico, founded by Amalia Hernandez. click for more
