AXIS Dance Company<BR>- the Bay Area's only physically integrated professional dance company -<P><BR>is pleased to announce its SPRING 2000 menu of new classes:<BR>(ALL CLASSES ARE FOR DANCERS WITH AND WITHOUT PHYSICAL DISABILITIES)<P><BR>1) The continuation of AXIS' new Master Class Series !<BR>AXIS hosts a series of 3-hour intensive workshop with some of the Bay<BR>Area's most talented and exciting dance artists (recent guests have<BR>included John Doyle and Keith Hennessy). YOUR opportunity to study with<BR>great teachers alongside AXIS dancers! Our next master class features:<P><BR>Kathleen Hermsdorf: Motion Techniques<BR>with Albert Mathias, musician<BR>Sunday, April 16, 1-4 pm, $30<BR>Eighth Street Studio, 2525 8th St (between Dwight and Parker), Berkeley, CA<P><BR>A vigorous and detailed class centered on the act of motion from the inside<BR>out and its inherent connection to sound and music. Improvisation,<BR>energetics, physics and mechanics meet in a long phrase of choreography fed<BR>by a live, rich sonic score. A training ground for a resonant and<BR>expressive body.<P><BR>Kathleen Hermsdorf and Albert Mathias have been collaborating in sound and<BR>motion since they met in the interdisciplinary performance group,<BR>Contraband, in 1995. They have been teaching at ODC School since 1996 and<BR>have been guest artists at dance festivals and universities around the<BR>country. They recently produced BLUE 2000 at ODC Theater as<BR>Artists-in-Residence.<P><BR>Master classes are recommended for experienced dancers. Spaces are<BR>extremely limited! Taught by AXIS Co-Directors<BR>Nicole Richter and Judith Smith.<BR>Wednesdays 4:15-5 pm: Dance Access/Kids! - Creative movement for children<BR>ages 6-12 -- afterschool fun for kids! Taught by AXIS dancers Bonnie<BR>Lewkowicz and Nicole Richter.<BR>Thursdays 12:30-2pm: Dance Access Improv - Iinformal explorations for<BR>dancers with some experience -- (midday fun for adults!)
