wasn't she a founder/choreographer for Oberlin Dance Collective? San Francisco (originally from Oberlin college, Ohio). I could be mistaken-there's a lot of "KT's"
in the world of modern dance?

Funny you ask this question. I just talked to KT last night at ODC/Unplugged. Yes, Ms Nelson is a choreographer and Co-Artistic Director of the SF-based modern dance company, ODC/SF. She is also the resident choreographer for Diablo Ballet.
Her works vary but she seems to have a certain introspectively sensual style that I find very alluring, especially when her modern dance education is combined with the artistry of ballet dancers. Her recent works have been done to music by Michael Nyman and Hoven Droven.
She is premiering a new work in April which some say may be her best yet.
I also find Ms Nelson very interested in creating works for children. She is also quite a thinker when it comes to the future of the arts. See my questions to her on the Voice of Dance live chat at: http://www.voiceofdance.com/Insights/vchat.global.trans.cfm?ChatSchedule_ID=3000000000000023
You can also read her bio at: http://www.voiceofdance.com/Community/comm.global.bio.cfm?Pro_ID=5500000000000019&ChatSchedule_ID=3000000000000023
Enjoy.

Speaking of Oberlin Dance Collective-there was a dancer-Jeff Friedman , who danced with them for many years. He also may have choreographed for them as well. Anyway, he's an old friend of mine from "back East." Have any of our criticaldance folks in the Bay area ever heard of him--I think he was thinking of retiring, last I heard! Any news?

Jeff Friedman? No, I'm afraid I have not heard of him. I'll ask around though.

Thanks for the info. I've been moving and did not get my phone hooked up until today.
Looks like I have a lot of reading to do!

trina, I think Mr Friedman has indeed retired. I don't know where he is though. I'll keep my ears open, as usual.
