Transmission is a new contemporary dance piece and interactive installation at the York Festival of Ideas, 19th -22nd June 2014.
Inspired by the similarities between the spread of ‘infectious’ ideas through social networks such as facebook and twitter, and the transmission of real-world diseases like swine flu through human populations, this award-winning team of artists, scientists, musicians and dancers combine cutting-edge technology and fluid movement to create a sonic and visual world where even the smallest interactions leave behind a trace.
Lead by award winning artist and stage designer Becs Andrews (Phase Revival: An Optical Harmonica) in collaboration with evolutionary biologist Professor Mike Brockhurst, choreographer Simon Birch and composer Jon Hughes (Terrarium) and the team behind Hidden Fields (Tom Mitchell, Phill Tew) with bespoke engineering from x-io technologies, TRANSMISSION promises to be a truly eye-opening experience.
Experience the dance performance and submerge yourself within the installation.
