Does anyone know which famous male ballet dancer turned to doing dramatic film roles,
after suffering acute arthritis, that ended his dancing career ?

I remember Alexander Godunov in Witness and Die Hard, but don't know if he had arthritis. More here:

John Gilpin perhaps? I'm not sure how "dramatic" but he appears in the film "Theatre Of Blood" (with Vincent Price), and some films in the 1940's
