The Huffington Post article above articulated my feelings exaclty. How can you produce good ballet if you constantly remind the dancers that they are "special, but expendable" and you foster a climate of brutal competition and fear? If you treated the employees in the costume shop, the office staff, or the production staff like that, they'd all quit and the company would cease to exist.
