Workshop

The basis of dance is quite simple. It is an attempt to be true to the environment at each instance, and thereby to let the environment to manifest itself in the body as presence, physicality, and movement.
This requires at first two principle elements:
The first is to be able to sense the environment concretely. This requires certain reducing of noise coming from one’s own self, opening of oneself to the outside intensely, and giving up of one’s own want to express.
The second element is to be available to be moved by the environment. This calls for knowing one’s own body mechanism, strength, limit, center, etc. to be able to distinguish the subtle gradients of one’s presence between black and white in one’s nuances of properties such as texture, weight, density, and light/darkness, and lastly to be able to give up following movements that come from one’s own motivations and impulses.
By this basic attempt, Moeno Wakamatsu beleives one comes closer to the expression of true-self.

The class begins with a warm-up focused on generating fluidity and relaxation through the body. Different exercises give the opportunity to explore internal openness and energy flow, facilitate an awareness of space and consciousness, distinguish different approaches to movement initiation, cultivate presence and prepare an alert and neutral body that is ready to be moved. Testimonials/Reviews
"Francois Perron is an unparalleled teacher. He set me on the path to my professional career in ballet." - Nicole Graniero, ABT
"My son is 9 and attended the ABT Young Dancer Summer Workshop in New York. ... Boys’ class was my son's favorite part of the day. He definitely improved quite a bit but the biggest improvement is how much he was inspired by his instructor, Francois Perron, and the older/more advanced boys. He came home with a greater focus and his teachers have told me they have seen a new enthusiasm in him in class since he got back."-BalletTalk 2011
"The best description of Francois Perron's class is, it's a lyrical experience. His style calls for elegant, seamless transitions and he could immediately determine the source of any aws and explain what the dancer needed to do to achieve the proper execution. One might think that that would be a given in ballet training at this level, but you'd be surprised at some of the things that have passed uncorrected in classes and rehearsals that I've watched."- Philip Gardner, Oberon's Grove
