Hoorah!!! It's about time...and 'good riddance' to the idiots who didn't realize what a precious gem they had in her. Fateev can enjoy mis-casting his "hyper-extended 'rinas'" all he wants.

I am so happy that she finally received principal status, after dancing principal roles for years. I hope she enjoys her home at the Bolshoi; she deserves to be happy after quietly labouring so hard for so long.

Thanks, Catherine, for the announcement and thank you and Natalia for your further thoughts.

Congratulations to this lovely dancer !

I will miss seeing her in Saint Petersburg and having brief chats with her at the Festival party. She speaks english very well and is a charming young lady.

I wish her all the best.

Congratulations to Evgenia Obraztsova! This is most welcome news! She is now
a Prima Ballerina, a Principal Dancer in the Bolshoi Theatre  the main stage of Russia.
I am so excited for her! The sky's the limit :D!

We are very relieved to know that Evgenia is soloist and with Bolshoi! Very wonderful for her, and for us, as we are in California and expect to see her performing here someday with Ardani (soon!). She is our favorite!

Evgenia's website is back up, indicating, in the News section, that she in fact became Principal of the Bolshoi on January 1, 2012, and is also now Guest Principal of the Mariinsky. Brava!

So let's see if the Mariinsky site will create a Guest Principal category. They have a Trainee (Kim Kimin) category, after all.

The current article in RBK online underlines her guest status with the Mariinsky as well, stating that she would dance there in singular performances upon agreement. This is a bonus for Petersburg residents of course!
