In addition to helping to finance a new home, the sale would allow the Joffrey to make its balance sheet as strong as its artistic endeavors.

Well, something is afoot in Chicago. Looks like the company is playing hardball.

This seems so illogical to me. If the parties aren't that far apart, and seems that they aren't, why did management feel the need to "lockout" the dancers while they are on unpaid leave anyway. It causes bad blood among the dancers and looks really bad to the public. It would not surprise me if this affects ticket sales. And for what?

On Thursday, July 14, Sid Smith reports in the Chicago Tribune that Joffrey dancers plan to pass out leaflets with information regarding their lockout outside their headquarters building during a time on Saturday, July 16 when attendees of the Dance/USA national convention are expected to tour the Joffrey facility.

Next, Zachary Whittenburg encapsulates the story to midafternoon Thursday in Time Out Chicago.

Then, late Thursday, the New York Times reports news of a settlement.
