I'm beginning to think that the same idiots run the city governments in both Miami and Boston. sigh.

So here are two more recent stories. I was not aware that after the jaw dropping raise the CEO Michael Hardy just received he was actually set to get a "bonus" of about 57,000 on top of the salary increase. It now looks as if that won't be the case after all. Here are the stories.

"Carnival Center late on county debt payment"

"Carnival Center chief won't get bonus"

"Carival Center CEO Fired, Replaced"
http://www.bizjournals.com/southflorida/stories/2007/10/29/daily5.html

It now seems crystal clear as to why ex-CEO M. Hardy got his raise retroactively from October 2006. This story just keeps getting better  . IMO, this recent firing action is too little too late. I really fear the whole place is going to fall in on itself at some point in the near future. When I say "fall in on itself" I mean financially and not a hurricane, however, considering how stupid it was to put this complex right next to the bay a hurricane could quite easily cause so much damage that the center would have to close for a long time.

From today's Dallas Morning News.....

I don't know how or why this story is in the Dallas Morning News but I am happy that someone finally reported on the "Florida Philharmonic" ordeal.

Hey! Big News for downtown Miami, we are gonna get a Wal-Mart right next to the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts, what a perfect match

A new revenue generator for the Arsht Center: eight story parking garages with a pair of 22 story high advertising screens. The idea appears to be on a fast track to city approval. Story in the Miami Herald.

I am amazed at the lack of aesthetic help by the Miami City council.
