Moscow City Ballet and the Moscow City Ballet Orchestra
21st SEASON TOURING THE UK

Moscow City Ballet is thrilled to be returning to the UK. MCB was the first Russian company with full productions to tour the UK and Ireland and is the bedrock on which dance audiences have been encouraged and built in theatres and halls all over the UK

On this 2009-2010 visit, MCB tours the popular classical repertoire including a beautifully designed version of Romeo and Juliet; an exhilarating traditional Russian version of Cinderella; a sparkling and enchanting Sleeping Beauty; an exquisitely designed and powerfully emotive Swan Lake; and a magical version of the Christmas favourite, The Nutcracker.

Opening in Dublin Helix on 26th November, the tour then goes on to Wolverhampton Grand Theatre from 1st – 5th December. After Christmas the company makes a return to the Festival Theatre Chichester after an absence of over a decade. From 11th January onwards MCB venues include Sheffield Norwich Nottingham, Northampton, Southend, Richmond, Brighton, Crawley and Bath

MCB was formed in 1988 by the distinguished Russian Choreographer Victor Smirnov-Golovanov. A highly acclaimed ex soloist of the Bolshoi Ballet, Smirnov-Golovanov enjoys bringing his heritage of classical ballet in the Moscow style to audiences including young ballet-goers, all over the world. Moscow City Ballet, accompanied by the Moscow Ballet Orchestra has performed to the highest standard and audiences have enjoyed the unique style and artistic integrity of Victor Smirnov-Golovanov's own choreography, as well as original versions of the great classical Russian repertoire.

The Company has some of the most accomplished and artistic soloists, and a sublime corps de ballet, all schooled in the in the best traditions of the Russian school. The costumes and sets are opulent, colourful, and a feast for the eye when the curtain goes up. Moscow City Ballet’s distinctive style endures both in production and rehearsal, due to the dedication of Victor Smirnov-Golovanov and his wife, Ludmila Nerubashenko, Chief Ballet Mistress and principal teacher.
