2009-10 Repertory

Birmingham Royal Ballet has announced details of its 2009-10 season. These include special celebrations for the Company's 20th year in Birmingham and a new ballet by David Bintley.

The autumn triple bill includes "The Centre and Its Opposite", a new work by Garry Stewart, Director of Australian Dance Theatre that is being premiered on the Company's South-West tour in May; and "E=mc²", a new collaboration between David Bintley and Australian composer Matthew Hindson. This programme is completed by Stanton Welch's "Powder". This rather Aussie programme is being marketed as "Quantum Leap".

The February triple bill is replaced with three gala performances in Birmingham to celebrate the Company's 20 years in the city.

The June mixed programme is Hans Van Manen's "Grosse Fuge", and two by Balanchine, "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" and "Theme and Variations". This programme is being marketed as "On Your Toes".

The full length works to be danced are "Cyrano" (autumn), "The Nutcracker" (Christmas), "The Sleeping Beauty" (February/March), and "Swan Lake" (June).
