The Mikhailovsky Ballet, which recently finished a triumphant London season, is proud to announce that their critically acclaimed production of Giselle will be presented in Venice , at La Fenice theatre.
The short Italian season of the Mikhailovsky will start on the 5th of November, the last performance is scheduled for November, the 9th.
The Mikhailovsky production of this classical romantic ballet, staged by one of the most prominent Albrechts in the world, Nikita Dolgushin, is widely praised for a true sense of style, elegance and rich emotion. Some of the traditionally reserved British press hailed this work by the company as one of the most exciting renditions of Giselle done in decades.
Nikita Dolgushin revived original sets from the 19th century with the help of one of the leading Russian stage designers Vyacheslav Okunev. The traditional choreography of Coralli, Perrot and Petipa was gently revised by Mr Dolgushin as well.
Principals of the Mikhailovsky Irina Perren, Anastasya Matvienko, Denis Matvienko and Semen Chudin, who appears with leading ballet companies worldwide and has recently started his collaboration with the famous St Petersburg company, will take up the major roles in the performances in Italy .
