The last two days took place the internal promotion competition for the Paris Opera Ballet dancers.

We now have 2 more Première danseuse (i. e. soloists): Eve Grinsztajn and Muriel Zusperreguy, and 2 more Premier danseur (i. e. soloist): Matthias Heymann and Stéphane Bullion.

I was in Paris last week and by chance saw Muriel Zusperreguy and Stéphane Bullion in lead roles (Stéphane as Caligula; Muriel as "La Lune") in Nicholas Le Riche's "Caligula." I was prepared to hate a ballet about such a disagreeable subject; in fact I found the performance, especially the dancing of these two new soloists, deeply affecting.

POB has 4 new dancers from today:

Marion Barbeau, Léonore Baulac, Silvia-Cristel Saint-Martin and Juliette Hilaire*.

The four ladies have been chosen after an exam reserved to POB's school pupils. No boy has been hired. Tomorrow takes place a second exam for people from outside POB's school. POB's school pupils who failed today are allowed to compete tomorrow.

*Juliette Hilaire is Laurent Hilaire's daughter
