Irina Kolesnikova, the star of St Petersburg Ballet Theatre is to appear as Juliet in a forthcoming revival of Frederick Ashton's Romeo and Juliet.

The most romantic version of Romeo and Juliet around, the ballet hasn't been seen for some time now. The rights to the work belong to Peter Schaufuss, who danced at the premiere as Juliet's nurse's page. His mother, Mona Vangsaae, was the original Juliet and his father, Frank Schaufuss, was the original Mercutio.

Kolesnikova is currently appearing as Judy Garland in Schaufuss's Divas currently playing in London. No details as yet as to dates and venues but something to really look forward to.
