Sure. Maybe she came with the company but no longer coaches, or maybe she happened to be in NYC. There are many possibilities or reasons as to why she might be in the audience with her husband.

Do you get the impression that certain American critics are actually outraged at the very concept of non-Americans having the audacity to dance Balanchine?

I can only say thank goodness for that, proves the Russians have a better sense of what is and what isn't appropriate on stage than a good many other companies.

I remember that Natalya Spitsyna was usually designated as the corps repetiteur for La Bayadere.
