A review in today's Telgraph of Michael Corder's new ballet The Snow Queen:

I have a ticket for this ballet for December when it will be shown at the Coliseum and will give my own thoughts on the work then.

By the way I'm told there was an interesting interview with Michael Corder in one of the Sunday papers a short while ago. If anyone could provide a link I'd be very grateful.

I went to the London premiere of the Snow Queen last week and have to say it was very warmly received by the audience and should be a popular addition to the repertoire.

I didn't see very many reviews probably because it was first seen on tour and reviewed then, but here is what Clement Crisp has to say:

The use of the music from the Stone flower was a stroke of genius on Michael Corder's part as the story lines for both ballets are so similar with both concerning a happy young couple with the boy attracting the attention of a supernatural female. Of course the source of Corder's ballet is the story by Hans Christian Anderson and therefore familiar to everyone, but for those of us that know Grigorovich's Stone Flower it was fascinating to see how another choreographer uses the same music.

Everyone danced well but Elena Glurdjidze as the kind gipsy girl was in a class of her own and I'll try to get to see her when she dances Swan Lake next month.
