Theatre Vanemuine in Tartu, Estonia is looking for male dancers with classical basis, but also interested in modern dance.

Tartu is the second biggest city in Estonia, located in southern part of the country. In addition, Theatre Vanemuine is the oldest and biggest theatre, using three different theatre houses. We are a unique theatre in Estonia converging spoken, musical and dancing theatre and performing dramas, operas, operettas, musicals, classical and modern ballets.
Our ballet company is 68 years old and international – there are dancers from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Great Britain and Japan. The team is young and innovative, working often with foreign choreographers from all over the world.

For next season we seek 8 young male dancers. We can guarantee accommodation, health insurance, the minimum salary 6850 EEK, performance fee and good working conditions.

[Stuart adds: 15.5 EEK = 1 Euro; remember that the cost of living in Estonia is well below the EU average.]

In our repertoire we have for example Adolph Adam’s “Giselle” (choreographer Stanislav Fecho, Czeck Republic), Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker”, (choreographer Pär Isberg, Royal Swedish Ballet), Edvard Grieg’s “Peer Gynt” (choreographer Mare Tommingas).

In 2007 we are planning to stage “James or La Sylphide” by Swiss choreographer Richard Wherlock and “Peter Pan” for children, also different contemporary projects. Our dancers also participate in musicals and operettas.

More information about the theatre you will find from our website www.vanemuine.ee

We are looking for commited, passionate and experienced dancers (both
male & female) to join our Bollywood Grooves Performance troupe.. You
do not necesarily have to have Bollywood/Bhangra Dance experience but
should be an experienced dancer (any style) We are looking for
performers for various events including

Exhibitions
Media events
TVAdverts
Music Videos
Corporate events
Private parties
Charity events
Weddings
plus many many more

If you are interested in teaching work:
Teaching opportunities are also available at:

School workshops (primary and secondary schools)
Private one to one teaching
Private group classes
Regular classes at gyms & dance schools
Corporate workshops

Please bring a CV of any past teaching experience you may have- We
would then train you up over one month intensively to teach This will
be done during our Evening open classes and Performance training
rehearsals. Call us to discuss details.

During the audition we will teach you a short Bollywood/Bhangra routine
in a group which you will re-iterate back to us in the group. At the
end of the auditions each person has 2 minsutes to show us a routine of
their choice to any type of music (NOTE:this is optional).

If you would like to meet us before the Audition or just simply try out
our style... then we strongly suggest you come along to our open
drop-in class at Pineapple Studios (See bottom of newsletter for
address) on any Tuesday at 8pm - 9pm in studio 12, where we run
intermediate level open weekly classes. This would allow you to get up
to speed with the style and also allow us to meet you in a more relaxed
environment if you prefer.

Performance training
Performance training rehearsals last approx 3 months and require twice
a week rehearsals commitment from you - Saturday mornings (2 hours) & 1
weekday evening (2-3 hours) in central London. We may need you to
attend a BG course before commencing rehearsals- this will be offered
to you at student rates. Call us to discuss details if you prefer.
Training will run from Jan to March 2008. Note: You have the choice of
joining the troupe and learning all routines (So you are ready as &
when performances come up) or just simply being on our performer
prortfolio so we can call you when we need more performers (beyond our
existing troupe) . Also note that you do not necessarily 'need to be
Indian' to perform with Bollywood Grooves! Our performance troupe is a
mixture of non-indians as well as Indians.......and they are
fantastic!..... Its all about having the passion to dance.

Ongoing Auditions for those who may miss the formal auditions
If you will miss the auditions due to other commitments then please
note that we are able to meet you (male or female dancers) at our open
class at Pineapple Studios (7 Langley street, Covent garden , London)
on any Tuesday at 8pm - 9pm in studio 12, where we run intermediate
level open weekly classes. This would be a good way for you to try out
our routines - in the process we can see how you cope with the
routines. This would be, in essence, an informal audition (you will be
with others who have dropped into that class too- so you are not alone-
dont worry!). Please do introduce yourselves to the teacher if you do
come to a tuesday session. Note: You will have the opportunity to show
us any of your routines, if you want to, after the class at 9pm.

We regularly choose people from our dance classes to train up to
perform at various events; If YOU are interested in performing (even if
you are not sure about your bollywood dance skills or have not been to
one of our classes) please do get in touch with us so that we can
discuss opportunities and your abilities. We will ensure that we train
you up to perform with us.
