Hong Kong Ballet to perform at the Asia Pacific Ballet Festival 2006 in Seoul

Hong Kong Ballet has been invited by The Korea Ballet Association to perform in "The 1st Asia Pacific Ballet Festival <Bravo Asia>" held at the Culture Foundation of National Museum of Korea in Seoul on 7th to 9th November 2006.

Led by Artistic Director John Meehan, nine dancers of the Hong Kong Ballet will give two performances in the Festival with "There's a Fly in this Soup", a one-act piece choreographed by its very own Senior Soloist Carlo Pacis as well as Act III Pas de deux of "The Sleeping Beauty". John Meehan is also invited to conduct a Master Class at Han Yang University for dance students, and jointly host a symposium with other artists on the topic of the status and development strategy of Asian Ballet to the World. Other participating companies include Shanghai Ballet, Tokyo City Ballet Company, Korea National Ballet Company, Universal Ballet Company and Seoul Ballet Theatre.

Senior Soloist Carlo Pacis is delighted that his work has been selected for the Festival. The ballet was premiered in January 2005 and well received. Natasha Rogai wrote in South China Morning Post "(the piece) is characteristically witty, with an exquisitely funny send-up of the archetypal classical pas de trois."
