The ‘Mariinsky’ Festival in St.Petersburg in March 2005 saw 3 gala concerts in honour of 3 prima ballerinas: Pavlenko, Vishneva, and Lopatkina.
Now the Kirov Ballet announced that , the 3 gala concerts at the 6th International Ballet Festival ‘Mariinsky’ in March 2006 will belong to 3 male principals: Tsiskaridze (Bolshoi Ballet), Zelensky, and Ruzimatov.

Akimova, this sounds wonderful! I wonder which ballets they'll
perform, and with whom?

In fact, there is no announcement on the Mariinsky’s website.
I got my information from the leaflet received by “Friends of the Mariinsky Theatre”.
The Mariinsky Theatre Trust organized a special tour, which covers only a few days of the festival, from 22-27 March 2006.

From “The Friends of Kirov” I learnt that the programme of 22 March will be as follows:
Gala Evening – ‘Benefice’

NIKOLAI TSISKARIDZE

1. RUBIES from JEWELS (Stravinsky – Balanchin), with Olesya Novikova and Ekaterina Petina
2. LE JEUNE ET LA MORT (Bach – Petit), with Daria Pavlenko
3. IN THE MIDDLE, SOMEWHAT ELEVATED (Willems – Forsythe), with Irina Golub

These two pages above describe the "Four Kings of Dance" programme.
I could see and read them but, unfortunately, they don't work now when copied from the website. Could they have special protection?

May be this one will work:

Some reviews and photographs of “The Kings of Dance” in OC can be found here:

http://community.livejournal.com/tsiskaridze/

However, at the beginning you will see two portraits: on the left is one of the poet Anna Akhmatova,
and on the right is Tsiskaridze impersonating Akhmatova’s portrait.

I'm curious: why is he impersonating Akhmatova? Is this part of a dance piece?

There is a photographer in Moscow – Ekaterina Rozhdestvenskaya who had a project where celebritiers impersonated for her characters from famous portraits of the past. It was quite popular in Russia. This is how she invited Tsiskaridze to impersonate Akhmatova. You can see some of her photographs here:

Undoubtedly you will recognaze the paintings used although you probably will not recognize the Russian impersonators.

The world ballet community is amazing!

On a RUSSIAN (!) ballet website of Tsiskaridze's fans I saw
a page from a JAPANESE (!) ballet website of Tsiskaridze's fans
translated into ENGLISH (!):

Congratulations to Nikolai Tsiskaridze on his 33rd birthday!

In a few minutes he will appear as Nutcracker Prince in the Grigorovich's production at the Bolshoi.
His partner tonight is Svetlana Lunkina.
