The Arts Council of England has just published a booklet '21st Century Dance - present position and future vision'.
On p.38 of this survey of the dance world in the UK, there is the statement:

quote:
Digital media is content-hungry and digital dissemination recognises no georaphic boundaries. Audience-driven websites such as www.ballet.co.uk and www.criticaldance.com are offerring new opportunities for dance enthusiasts to create communities of interest on an interational scale. Online debates are democratising the traditional role of the critic and blurring the boundaries between the artist, audience and pundit.

Do you mean to say, Stuart, that we weren't respectable before this?
Good job all for making Critical-Dance what it is -- and I include all our members. But there's a lot more to do. Image

Reading my original post I realise that I hadn't made it clear that this is Arts Council booklet is an important publication, which will be read by virtually all those involved in dance funding in the UK and most dance administrators.
[This message has been edited by Stuart Sweeney (edited May 15, 2001).]

I'm impressed with us. Will there be a receiving line? Autographs? Photo ops?

Ah, yes, Jennifer, criticaldance.com has been singled out in the SF Weekly and the SF Examiner and possibly the Contra Costa Times.

We get a mention in the July edition of 'Dance Europe' magazine. In the Editorial, Emma Pegler is quoted with a reference from her comments in our topic on the Anthony Dowell Gala:
http://www.criticaldance.com/ubb/Forum16/HTML/000002.html
