Cinderella goes to the dogs
From Shanghai Daily

Riding in a pumpkin carriage, Cinderella, and her dog companions are on their way to the ball. While we're sure the original version of "Cinderella" didn't include dogs - this one definitely does.

This month, the World Theater of Dogs from Uzbekistan will arrive with a performing group of 40 humans and 40 dogs. The show is a combination of theater, circus and ballet....

It's those dogs again!:

Shake, rattle & roll over
By Craig Wilson, USA TODAY

MOSCOW, Pa. — Eileen Hoyson, dressed in black tails and a bowler hat, is sidestepping her way across the fluorescent-lit dance floor to Roger Miller's classic King of the Road. One foot over the other, she's gliding across the room. A little soft-shoe.

Her partner, Sawyer, is at her side, following her lead, moving left to right in perfect unison with her, one paw over the other.

Dog Dancing - My beagle and I try America's weirdest pet hobby.
Emily Yoffe, Slate.com

My beagle, Sasha, and I were going to try the sport of "canine freestyle." (You could call it "dog dancing" but just not in front of anyone who does it.) The materials from the Canine Freestyle Federation suggested that when our performance came together, Sasha and I would flow to the music in a pairing of such joy that we would experience the kind of transcendent unity that used to be described in the final chapter of marriage manuals.

I'm months behind as usual, but in case anybody still reads this topic:

In "Lady Be Good", Eleanor Powell does a terrific dance number with her dog. He really was her dog, too, and she trained him.

Was the dog as good at what he did as Ms. Powell was at what she did?

Where've you been? (For that matter, where've I been?)

He was the best dancing dog I've ever seen. Every bit Eleanor's equal, on a dog-like level. The Vernon Castle of dogs. I'm convinced he was aware of the music and feeling it deeply.

He was the same kind of dog as Eddy on "Frasier". Maybe Eddy's great, great, great grandfather.

Dances with Dogs
Canine freestyle is a sport with four paws, two feet, lots of heart
by LUCINDA HAHN for the Chicago Tribune

"If I go too fast," Tepper explained, "she'll scratch or yawn."

That's nothing: Tepper's partner might also wander off midroutine to sniff or - nightmare scenario - leave her mark.

Such are the pitfalls of dancing with one's dog, a burgeoning sport, or spectacle, depending on your point of view, known as "canine freestyle."
