good story, salzberg - egg on face for critic, or what!? (deserved, obviously.....)
re trina's "Bill T. has typically done very political, personal and sometimes "raw" pieces, tending to want to "push people's buttons"..but that's neither here nor there, and doesnt' have much to do with this particular case" - i think this MAY be, VERY much, HERE and there....AND 'to do with this particular case'.
stuart is obviously trying to get us all going - i'll see if i can oblige you with the reference, stuart - but i hate it when you deliberately stir things up! Great work grace! I'm out the door now to see the Kirov, but will read the article again when I get back. Can you arrange for an internet viewing of 'Still/Here' as well?

haha stuart!
what i AM going to do, is copy the link to a new thread, so that we can discuss that distinct topic (Croce's article) over there (better late than never!) Image.....leaving THIS thread for the more general issue of 'the limits of criticism' -or critics' faux pas - which you have already raised, OK?
