Former Ballet chief named UPAF president Christine Harris, former executive director for The Milwaukee Ballet Co., has been named president of the United Performing Arts Fund, the nonprofit organization that provides primary operating support to 22 member groups. From The Business Journal Milwaukee
Harris succeeds Julie Tolan, who was named vice president of university advancement at Marquette University in September.
Harris served as executive director of the Milwaukee Ballet from 1997 through its 2001-02 season and is credited with leading the company to economic stability. She was hired specifically to help turn around the financially ailing Ballet, promising the board to do so in five years when she was hired in 1997.
She told the board last December that she wanted to broaden her career into other community nonprofit activities.
