I am dying to know what you think of Muriel Maffre? My husband and I adore her. She is so interesting to watch.

BTW, we will be counting every single dancer and every single staff member upon return, lest you Brits abscond with one of ours. And, no, you cannot keep Amanda Schull.

What a pity that we are not allowed to keep Amanda. She struck me as very nice and charming when I interviewed her 3 years ago and from what I have seen this week she is doing well in the company.

Anyway I understand that you want SFB back but maybe we could agree on a 'Ballet Company Exchange Programme'? Every few years we could swap and the Royal Ballet could dance in San Francisco for a seasone while SFB comes to London.
How about it?

And to think that only a few years ago I was given dirty looks when I suggested that San Francisco Ballet may be one of the top companies in the US. What a difference a few tours to Europe has made!

However, it didn't come about overnight. As Artistic Director, Helgi Tomasson, brought many changes to the company which took years to see fruition. But it was also the strategic thinking and planning of past Executive Director Arthur Jacobus that turned SFB into a first class act in all respects beyond just the dancing.

SF Ballet has made a big impact on this visit. For example, one dedicated Russian ballet fan told me that their performances were more interesting than the recent Bolshoi season, especially from the aspect of the repertoire.
