Queensland Ballet's Blue Angel Cabaret
The season kicks off in March with The Sleeping Beauty. The score for the classic tale comes from that most-loved of Ballet composers, Tchaikovsky, and is choreographed by Francois Klaus, who follows and adapts the original choreography of nineteenth century master Marius Petipa. Klaus retains the best of the traditional choreography and its well-known characters - the evil Carabosse, the good Lilac Fairy, and the beautiful Princess Aurora and her Prince Desire.
In May the Company will continue its successful Cathedrals Week with St Francis of Assisi. The ballet will be presented in St John's Cathedral with raked seating to ensure an unimpeded view of the stage, and follows the life of one of Christianity's most celebrated saints whose humility and love for animals has captured the imaginations of millions. The production will also combine the talents of The Queensland Orchestra, the Canticum Chamber Choir and the Queensland Ballet dancers.
More
