Fouette, I was only guessing, as I don't live in Beijing. Maybe you could find out the real reason for the cancellation - perhaps it could be due to the fire that you mentioned.

For the record the real reason for the cancellation of the last few galas was due to the failure of a few sponsors to come up with their pledged amounts. But all the dancers taking part were well compensated for this, and there are plans for more galas to be held next year.

I"ve also just received from the publisher Tundra Books an advance copy of Chan Hon Goh's biography, which I look forward to reading and reviewing. The book is handsomely designed with lots of beautiful photos.
