Has anyone seen this ballet before? Can't decide between this or Swan Lake in London.

Although the Bolshoi's production of Swan Lake is not without merit, it is different from traditional versions and doesn't have too many fans so I would hesitate to recommend it.

If you can only get to one performance, I think Daughter of the Pharaoh has to be the best choice as this is a complete first in the UK. The sets and costumes are terrific and Pierre Lacotte has produced a fair pastiche of 19th century choreography. When the ballet was shown in Paris earlier this year, it proved very popular indeed and Criticaldances’s Katherine Kanter provided the following in-depth and very enthusiastic review.

I saw Pharao's Daughter in Paris and without doubt, I would go to see again it. I think Grigorovitch' Swan Lake is not one of the best production of this ballet, all the mime is "deleted" and if you know a russian Lake, it's always the same thing !
