Arizona observes NDW with week long festivities and ending with a dance concert, "Celebration of Dance," on May 3, 2003. Led by NDW AZ State Director, Helena Saraydarian, (Golden Lion Productions) a wonderful group of dance industry volunteers comprise the Planning Committee. Special guest Dee Dee Wood (Emmy Award winning director & choreographer), will be in attendance and the event is to be co-hosted by performance artist Gina Tleel, guest Celebrity spokesperson, Stacy Van Dyke (daughter of Dick Van Dyke). Former NDW Spokesperson, Joe Tremaine, will be invited as a guest speaker. The performance is to be held at the Herberger Theater in Phoenix, AZ at 7:30 pm. The NDW festivities will open with TAPWEST presented by directors Jan Lawton, a NDW Professional Representative, and Marcia Day with tap workshops and a performance. The week will continue with various dance activities such as classes, workshops, seminars and dance video viewing party. Local dance companies have been invited to perform in this 4th Annual "Celebration of Dance" and include: Ballet Arizona, Scorpius Dance Theater, regional College and University Performing companies. Modern, Jazz, Tap, Salsa, Hip Hop, and cultural dance styles will be represented.
