National Dance Week events for New York

Join Ithaca to celebrate NDW on May 3 and 4. There will be a "Kick Line" to "Kick In & Be Counted" at 2 pm on The Commons and Master Classes at 10 am and 3pm at various dance studios on May 3. Also on May 3, The New England Dance Co. will be presenting "Peter and the Wolf" matinee at the State Theater and "Fire Bird" in the evening.

On Sunday, May 4, we are celebrating with a "Sharing Our Cultures" Dance Concert at 2 pm at the State Theater, with several dance companies from the Central New York area participating. Tickets for the concert on Sunday are $7.00. Buttons, offering discounts at local businesses and a discount on tickets for the Saturday performances of the New England Ballet Co., will be available for $1.

In keeping with celebrating National Dance Week in our elementary schools, a third grade class is preparing a production about "The Story of the Star-Spangled Banner". They are learning to tell a story from American history by way of dance. This is a student-run production that the students themselves will help to promote in the community.

Our production takes place on April 30th at Temple Hill Academy in New Windsor, NY at 9am.
