The truth about Christmas is that in the name of peace on Earth, goodwill toward men, we all end up doing stuff we hate.
We eat fruitcake. We abide friends' Christmas sweaters. We schlepp the kids to see The Nutcracker ballet.
God save us, every one.
That is why it comes as no surprise to me that in Massachusetts, Arizona and Colorado, the crusty old chestnut of ballet is facing eye-high competition from the Rockettes' "Radio City Christmas Spectacular."
In Phoenix, the city ballet's revenues fell by 22 percent last year after the Rockettes high-kicked into town.
