Post subject:  Costume help! (With acrobat-pointes)

Hello new member, I'm not a dancer but a costume designer for theatre.

One of the dancers/acrobats came to me with a huge problem, her favorite pointes are ruined because someone managed to puke over them during a performance after-party, and asked me if I could manage to clean them.

I've fixed and cleaned pointes and dancing shoes with natural soap and a washingcloth and usually pancake can do wonders with hiding the normal dirt and stains, but this is absolutely horrible. They smell incredibly sour and there are black spots that seem to have its orgin in liquorice or something.

I know normal pointes shouldn't be washed or get totally soaked. However these shoes are much more flexible, although they are made of satin and leather (and a rubber anti-slip layer on the soles) the toes aren't as tight and much thinner than normal pointes.

Bad thing is they are sequined and beeded all over, and I don't think the sequins will survive a cleaning with lysol.

Can anybody help me with advice on how to clean them? I really don't like to take them totally apart to clean the materials seperated, i trhink it will be almost impossible to put them back together again without loosing to much of the comfort and fit.

thanks in advance!

Normal pointe shoes have a short life anyway. Maybe she could write them off as dead.
