Post subject: A very helpful book

Often, when we discuss helpful books, I suggest one that's not specifically about the arts. In the past, I've strongly recommended Up the Organization -- probably the best all-around book I've ever read about managing groups of people.
Because I've recently been looking for free-lance work for next season (Need a lighting designer? I'm available.), I decided to revisit another of my favorites, Sweaty Palms: The Neglected Art of Being Interviewed, by Anthony Medley.
It's all well and good to be good at your job, but before you can do a job well, you first have to get the job. Medley discusses various interview techniques, relates examples from actual interviews he's conducted, and gives many, many helpful hints.
If you're not good in interviews, this book will help you. If you're already good, Medley's book will make you better. It's definitely on my top-ten list of books you should have if you work in the arts.

------------------
Jeffrey E.
