Hello,

I'm working in a modern piece and I can't found the right music for it. It looks like I have something that can work. However it is a song with lyrics and I just don't know how to deal with that. I always prefered instrumental versions or classical music. I'm afraid that the audience is going to drag into the lyrics.
What is your opinion about working with lyrics?
How do you deal with that? any advice?

Thanks.

Lyrics, and also spoken word, can be tough. Speaking for myself personally, I know that when confronted with dance, music and word, I tend to not make sense of the words, but watch more of the movement. But I know just as many folk who are exactly the opposite - they will concentrate on the words, and not the movement.

I say vive la difference and just make the best gosh durn piece you can!
