Post subject: "Marley" storage

I have 5 rolls of marley (not real marley but marley like) flooring on my back patio. They were rolled without a core and have several kinks that are coming out in the sun. Question I have it what is the best way to store it without adding much weight? I was told 8 inch PVC pipe. Is this the "best" or is it too small? We will be cleaning it and rerolling in the next few weeks before using it at the end of May.
Too bad I cant keep one roll of it back there to "play" on..lol
[This message has been edited by Pas (edited May 01, 2001).]

8" is fine.
For best results, run a pipe or a 2x4 through the PVC and suspend it at each end.

If you cannot find space to build a rack to "hang" them, at the very least, avoid the temptation to stack them, like in a pyramid.
This crushes the bottom ones

Would standing them on end be better than lying them out? Or would it possibly damage the ends?
Thanks.. hanging MIGHT be an option.. but would takes some work.

It would be more accurate to say that standing on end is less bad than laying them down; if they're not going to be there for long and if the PVC pipe is slightly longer that the width of the floor pieces (so that it protrudes), you can stand them on end w/o damage.
Suspending them is the only viable long-term option.

[This message has been edited by salzberg (edited May 02, 2001).]

Thanks all. Our "men" came by and rolled it onto 8 inch core that I got free from a carpet store. 8 inch pvc pipe would have been $300! I was willing to spend it if we had to, but am very pleased with myself for finding it for free!
One of our "men" is going to build a stand under the shelving in our storage closet to store it on hanging from 2x4's through the core.
Now our cleaning company has to come by and clean it. It was taken up from our second site when we consolidated into one building and was NEVER cleaned. Tape reside and black tap dust dirt..yuck. BUT the sun did get all the wrinkles out!!
