Hey everyone, Im Rachie and im a student currently studying Fashion Design. At the moment Im working on a costume project for my exams, which is based on ballet costumes. I would really appreciate it if some of the dancers who post here could fill in my questionnaire and help with my research. The questions are below:

1. How long have you been dancing for?

2. What styles of dance do you do?

3. When dancing what parts of your body need the least restriction?

4. What clothes do you usually wear for dancing, and prefer to wear?

5. What fabrics are they made from?

6. What is you favourite dance outfit and why?

7. What clothes would you find it most difficult to dance in?

8. Are there any garments / accessories you would not dance in?

9. Do / would any of the items on the list below affect your dancing in a negative way?

• Headgear / headbands / hats?
• Wings?
• Scarves?
• Gloves?
• Tassels / ribbons
• Neck accessories

10. Do you prefer looser fitting or tighter fitting clothes to dance in?

11. Please write any other comments / notes you have about dancing and what you would prefer or need in a dance costume.

Thankyou so much for your help, it will be very much appreciated!

Hi Rachie and welcome to CriticalDance.

From your questionnaire I assume that you want to hear from both current and ex-dancers and also hobby through to professional dancers. Is that right?

Also when you talk about clothes to dance in, I'm not sure whether you mean for practice or performance.

yes, im trying to find out practicality of costumes and comfort while dancing so current and ex dancers, and professional and hobby dancers, any of those would be great.

Ideally if you could answer for both that would be great but im really concentrating on performance, trying to find a medium between the look and practicality of a costume.

Thankyou, I hope that helps you to answer it a little more.
