New Technology 04
From Article19 (UK)
These days technology is an ever more important part of the modern arts world. Dance is no exception so we thought it was about time we brought you another round up of technology that might come in handy for your day to day work. On the other hand buying very expensive equipment can also cheer you right up when your latest project is spiraling out of control and those good folks at ACE [Arts Council England] are giving you a hard time.
Our previous round up was based around affordable technology, this time though we’re pulling no punches and the sky’s the limit. If the arts can spend millions on funny shaped buildings of little practical use (the South Bank Centre for example) then the arts can spend some cash on state of the art equipment and start making things look a little better.

Trading places - ABTT show news
From The Stage
James Thomas will display its ranges of theatrical lanterns at this year's ABTT show in London (June 16-17). The display includes its asymmetric Cyc lights featuring electrostatic paint finish and robust yoke, complete with T-bar for positive lock-off.
Cyc lights, it states, can be used flown or floor-mounted - the body of the unit having an inbuilt 30 degree angle floor-mount facility - and optional floor mounting plates are also offered. The units also have adjustable lamp-holders and feature ventilation slots to prolong bulb and gel life.
