When the Italianate Napa Opera House opened in 1880 -- "one of the finest and most complete Halls in the State," wrote the Napa Daily Register -- the citizenry sat on wooden benches beneath a great gas lamp chandelier and watched a San Francisco troupe perform Gilbert & Sullivan's "H.M.S. Pinafore." more

Over the weekend I attended a performance at this venue. A great new little intimate theater perfect for small shows or concert type groups.
We were lucky to see the Italian mime Ennio. He does his entire show with paper costumes. He is so clever and inventive. It was only an hour long, but I don't think I could have laughed for any longer than that. He did everyone from Marilyn Monroe to the Three Tenors. If you get the chance go see this performer.
